Ovella Turner, age 95 of Breckenridge, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 30th, at Necessity Cemetery with Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, September 29th, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Ovella Harris was born on June 11, 1914 in Necessity, Texas to parents Samuel Lilburn Harris and Maggie Ann Armstrong Harris. She grew up in the community of Necessity and attended schools there. Ovella went on to attend Nursing School at Ranger College. Ovella worked as an LVN at Ranger General Hospital for nine years. She married Dorma Elmo Turner on May 6, 1941 in Breckenridge. They made their home in California, where Mr. Turner worked during WWII. They later moved to Dallas before returning to their family ranch in Stephens County. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming and ranching alongside her husband. Ovella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Roy Harris and Claude Harris; five sisters, Ozella Harris, Lottie Newnham, Odessa Shaw, Bertie Tate and Beatrice Baird; and one great grandson Armon Morton Jr.
Ovella is survived by two sons, Royce Morton and wife, Helen of Necessity and Sam Turner and wife, Sue of Necessity; five grandchildren, Armon Morton of Talala, OK, Montie Morton and wife, Laura of Necessity, Lucienda Moehnke and husband, Robert of Aubrey, Brad Turner and wife, Evella of Lipan and Tracey Harrison and husband, Brad of Lipan; ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
